Tosin Oshinowo founded Ilé Ilà (translated "House of Lines") in 2017 to commemorate her ancestral Yoruba culture. It is a collection of lifestyle furniture created and handcrafted in Lagos, Nigeria. We create period-appropriate furniture with a contemporary African twist in Lagos, Nigeria.

Tosin Oshinowo, the architect behind the Maryland Mall's design and execution, has a natural aptitude for product design. She is particularly interested in the usefulness of chairs, but she is also concerned about their placement in a Nigerian-African setting.

Her aesthetic for architecture is filled with juxtapositions--very straightforward combined with muted colors, yet her expression with the chairs is a vibrant burst of color. Her fascination with West African fabrics and hardwoods has served as the foundation for her articulation of this identity. The collage of As Oké condensing history into upholstery, in particular, is what makes this furniture line fascinating and unique. Cultural identity is vital, and each chair at ilé-Ilà is named based on its style. Each chair, whether ràbà - aged tree, kn - the beautiful peacock, or Alààfà - peace on this house, is a proud celebration. As we formally debut the furniture line, we are extremely honored to have Adekunle Gold, a pioneer in honoring "African culture" in an "Urban context," as our Muse, together demonstrating what can be done.
